In your first 2 to 3 page paper, I would like you to write an essay about the Conquest, the arrival of the Old World into the New World.
What I want you to do is explain the Conquest, using everything you have seen and read so far.
Here are some ideas you should consider when working on your paper.
Was the Conquest inevitable, or could something different have happened if the actors had acted differently?
Was there an awareness or level of ignorance of ethnic and cultural differences between Europeans and Indians that guided the Conquest? If so, how did this factor into the course of history.
Was the Conquest an overt act, or was it more a result of unintended consequences?
