When Otto Hahn completed his first fission experiment, he quickly wrote to his former colleague, the famous physicist Lise Meitner, who was working in Stockholm at the time. Meitner and her nephew Otto Frisch contacted Niels Bohr, one of the world's most eminent physicists, to solicit his opinion on Hahn and Strassman's fission experiments. Bohr, who was also in Stockholm, confirmed that Han and Strassman had indeed split the atom.
